Visit to Australian Road Cycling ChampionshipsShearne and I were invited today up to Ballarat to see iMIS in action at the Australian Road Cycling Championships www.aorcc.com which is run by Cycling Australia. Ron was our host in between his duties at manning the timing and results equipment which is linked in to iMIS. We got to see both the mens and womens 28km time trials. The circuit is very tough, lots of hills, but I was surprised how fast these men and women go, averaging over 40km/h up and down pretty big hills. Ron had been having some issues over the December period with cyclists logging on to renew memberships and we spent time with him over lunch understanding the problems. Cycling is one of the few sports making strong progress with national registration of athletes and the web (iMIS and e-CM) is a key part of this strategy. They are also using e-Events to manage race entry (they run about 3,000 race events each year).
