Colin's Fourth week in US

Week 4 – This was another busy week - some of it actually away from the Alexandria condo.

Sunday (the day after I did so well at golf on Saturday haha), we had the monthly Sales Meeting with RMs, John Benda and other managers from the Sales group. Monday/Tuesday were at Innovations conference. It was good to meet with other US staff that I have spoken to by phone and not met previously. I attended most of the sales stream of presentations and two of the technical sessions. The networking opportunities were excellent and I also met a number of AiSP staff that are working with North American customers.

Wednesday was the Management Meeting held at the conference hotel (North Bethesda). Key manages went through their elements to the balanced scorecard – similar to how we do in AP however the corporate scorecard is slightly different this year. Thursday was a US Customer Care meeting with Peter, Linda in the office and Fernando by phone. Friday was solo with Linda working through her opportunities and weekly tasks for next week.

Paul stayed with me Wednesday – Sunday at the condo. He is the first visitor to stay at the condo. The lounge suite arrived this week – so it was good to have somewhere to sit and even listen to music or read a book. Paul even saw the pool and sundeck at the condo before me…. Curious Paul! I attached a pic from the roof over the office to DC.

It was a bit like normal having Amanda, Martin, Mick, Paul and Peter here for the conference and spending a lot of time with Aussies this week. Having Paul here is a good thing – gets me out and about a bit. Thursday night I went to dinner with the tennis crew at Washington harbour and also to a piano bar in Georgetown. Eating out all the nights puts a little strain on the waist since the portions are a little larger than normal portions here compared to Australia. I managed to get some exercise Saturday riding the bike to watch Paul play tennis against Dan, Bob and Nick. We went shopping in DC and also took some pictures at Hains Point (attached) in front of a ‘The Awakening‘ sculpture that Marilyn said I should visit before it gets moved to another point in DC.

Next week is back to normal work week – and get those ‘to do’ lists actioned!
