Colin's Fifth Week in US

Week 5 - Who can believe it is Week 5 already?

This week was one of those where I did a lot of things that weren’t on my To Do list. A lot of customers are asking about iMIS15 and how they change to Named User licensing and what the upgrade will cost. Given the Named User pricing is still in draft mode, this is difficult. However, with all the Webcasts and information, US staff are having to give draft pricing for customer budgets. It is all positive, just coming up with scenarios we need to do more research for answers.

I started testing Process Manager for Customer Sales process. It looks good and is completely different to our current Opps Management. Still more setup to do and testing though. Also reviewed the current SUP process in US/Canada with a view to streamline the promotion/follow-up. There are some things we do in AP that aren’t done in US and a bit of visa-versa too. So hopefully we can get a standard process across all countries.

Friday nite I went on the Old Town Alexandria Ghost tour. Some of the stories were interesting and I actually learnt something about old town. It ended in the cemetary around 10pm - so that in itself was fun. Got a haircut Saturday – why do I mention this? Well its the first time I have ever had my hair cut outside Australia. How was it? Well it was $10 cheaper, and included a head, shoulder and neck massage. Not bad :)

Did a fair bit of exercise this week, with cycling Thursday afternoon, Saturday and Sunday. Sunday’s ride was most extensive – approximately 55km through Alexandria, Arlington, Georgetown and Falls Church. I was out for about 6 1/2 hours to stop, look around and even shop. You might ask, what does it take to do 55km on a bike. Well for a person with diabetes, approximately 1 x Litre Apple Juice, 1 x banana, 1 x sandwich and 2 x snickers bars. Perhaps I won’t lose any weight during the exercise ;)
The bike trails were pretty, leafy and mostly well paved. Georgetown was pretty (see pic) and I noticed in most US houses, they have stuff that we don’t have in Australian homes much right now. It is green, and it grows with rain --- grass :)

At the end of the ride, I bought something that definitely makes me feel like home – a cordless kettle for cups of tea … haven’t had that for 5 weeks, and the first cup was delicious. One thing that sticks out at me – go into an Aussie store to buy a coffee maker – and it would be a cappuccino machine. Target had one (1) of them (and this was a huge Target) but it had about 20 types of filter coffee machines – which are difficult to find in Aussie stores nowadays. See pic.
