Colin's Tenth week in US

Week 10

More time this week with iMIS 15 pricing. We are now also reviewing the approach to deploy iMIS 15 and new Named User licences. This is important to ensure that customers are able to change to a Named User licence easily and make the most of iMIS15 as soon as possible. Customers will require a new code in the licence key in order for iMIS 15 GA to work – so it means distribution of new licenses to all active customers, and some payments (for additional casual/public users). Some of the options include online licence change form, or preparing forms for sending to customers with the iMIS 15 CD.

I responded to my monthly request from Jenny P to run the SUP billing. This is for August invoices and means that Jenny will have a sweeter smile on her face knowing I got them done early :) . Finance asked me to complete some 5 year plans for Customer Care in the US, so I started on this activity and have to complete it next week. I booked flights to visit Linda in Toronto and Fernando in Austin in my second last week here. We will visit some customers together and review what they are doing and where they are going.

Personally it was a reasonably quiet week. Each morning I get a coffee from my regular place (610 Montgomery) – they actually know what a flat white is! and very friendly (and not Starbucks). I worked at the office and then came home to dinner and TV. Life has turned out pretty similar to home in Melbourne.

On Saturday, I got on the bike for the first time in 2 weeks and road about 15 km to Mt Vernon – home of George Washington. I road there about a month ago, but did not have enough time to go in. I spent about 4.5 hours there walking around the ‘plantation’ went on a cruise up the Potomac and walked through the orientation center learning more about George Washington (pics attached), Then I road back home via the shops on Duke Street. I went to WholeFoods for the first time – people here rave about it. Pretty amazing grocery store – plenty of great food and some of it hot and ready to eat. I ended up getting dinner in the store – and ate it there. Cannot imagine doing that at Coles.

Saturday and Sunday the Red Cross Alexandria Waterfront Festival was 2 blocks from the condo. I didn’t go Saturday but I was able to hear the bands and watch the fireworks from my balcony (pics attached). I went to the festival on Sunday and watched a band, got a hot dog and then came home to rest. It is about 34 degrees (C) today so much more comfortable in the condo.

In less than 3 weeks I will be back in Australia – but there is always plenty left to do.

PS - When I was at the festival today I saw an ATM getting fixed. I saw OS/2 for the first time in years! For those too young to know what it is - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OS/2
