iMIS CapabilitiesI must admit, I'm probably more critical than others when it comes to things that iMIS doesn't do. However tonight I have been filling in a requirements document for a prospect and I wanted to share a thought i had. For those that don't know, one of the typical first steps in evaluating iMIS that a prospect might do is to prepare a list of requirements. They rank and prioritise these and give us a framework within which to advise how iMIS and ASI meet those requirements. Typically it might say something like "Must be able to navigate from field to field by using the TAB key" and the response types are "Out of the Box", "Configuration", "Customisation" or "Not Supported". This is a really simple requirement but none-the-less one I answered tonight. Anyway... sometimes answering some of these questions is tough, there are many ways to solve a problem in iMIS and what's the best way, with the minimum number of modules, with the shortest time frame of implementation while maintaining the upgrade path. Both Kevin and myself are regularly challenged with these sort of things, and sometimes they're HUGE! Earlier this week we completed one with 907 requirements itemised!!!!! However some of the items on these lists are "no brainers" for us. I just flagged another requirement as out-of-the-box... what was the requirement? "Require the ability to promote training courses and events via e-marketing and accept on line registrations with no manual keying into CRM." It struck me that WE DO THIS OUT OF THE BOX! How cool is that! How many organisations struggle for years to build this sort of function? How many of our competitors struggle to do this? And we do it with no problems. This is not a new function of iMIS by any means, however it's a critical differentiator. I guest I just had a blinding flash of the obvious and thought it worth sharing. Remember that as much as we think iMIS doesn't do something, there is SO much that it does do that we take for granted. So... what does iMIS do that you think is pretty cool?
