Prime Ministers award luncheon

On Tuesday, Sue-Anne Wallace (CEO of the FIA) and I attended the Sydney luncheon to announce the state finalists of The Prime Minister's Awards for Excellence in Community Business Partnerships. ASI and FIA jointly submitted a nomination for this award, which I had posted about a few months ago.

Unfortunately, we did not win the state award, so that's it for us for this year. But it was really a good thing to be part of, and already Sue-Anne and I have started to make notes on how we can improve our community partnership so that we can nominate again next year.

Overall, some 230 nominations were received nationally. At the Sydney lunch I attended, there were about 200 people in the room, and the awards were presented by Patrick McClure, the former CEO of Mission Australia, and the current CEO of Retirement Villages Group and Division Director of Macquarie Bank.

There are many great things going on between corporates and communities. Each one of the 4 winners really did something special. In particular, it has motivated me again to get our own volunteering program back on the table again.
