Q3 review of SMART STEP 2007 training

Julie distributed via email last week the nine month (3rd quarter) results of our SMART STEP internal training for 2007. We made some changes to the training program for this year that can be summarised by this saying: "planning to execute, and then executing to plan". I wrote more detail about the changes in the half year results.

The spreadsheet distributed by Julie shows your quarterly actuals against your quarterly plan. I want to recognise in particular the following people who are either ahead of their plan, or within 10% of making their plan, as of the three-quarter way mark (September 30):

Congratulations to the 3 of you for executing on your plan and driving us forward to becoming a SMART Company.

Some general stats on the SMART STEP training so far in 2007 - a total of 1,468 hours of training have been completed against the plan of 2,133 hours, a 69% attainment. Compared to the same period last year, a total of 1,231 hours were completed in 2006 with a higher headcount, so the training commitment really is there in 2007. As at the end of Q3, the average hours trained per team member is 51 hours in 2007 compared to 37 hours in 2006 - a 38% improvement. We really are becoming a SMART Company.

For Q3 alone, a total of 651 training hours were completed against a plan of 715 hours, for a 91% attainment, and our best quarter so far this year for doing the training we said we were going to do.
