NiUG update

In the past month the local NiUG chapter committee have held their annual planning day to map out the agenda for the year. We were asked to give some feedback on NiUG activities in 2007 - their first year in AP - and on things coming up. A summary of relevant activity for everyone to know about is as follows:

- Discovery Conference dates - 15-17 October 2008, Rydges Oasis Resort Caloundra, Sunshine Coast, Qld - ww.rydges.com/oasis.

- International speakers for Discovery Conference - ASI to assist where possible to support international speakers from the iMIS community coming to Australia for the Discovery conference.

- New iMIS customers - will be provided with a year of NiUG membership for "free" as part of their iMIS purchase price.

- iMIS Information Days - are currently being scheduled again in Melbourne and Sydney, with remote access provided to all other locations - from April.

- Great Things Award - changes to the nomination process so that entries are submitted to NiUG instead of ASI and that NiUG participate with ASI in the judging process. Like last year, the winner to be presented at the Discovery conference dinner.

- Platinum sponsorship - ASI is proud to have taken out Platinum sponsorship of NiUG again in 2008, which is a cash contribution of around $10k.

I asked some of the local ASI team for feedback on NiUG from 2007 so that we could respond to NiUG formally, and I have gone ahead and included all of those notes below (from 24 Jan 08). There were some very positive comments!

Paul

  • Website – no presence on niug.org – needs it
  • Using Informz and Informz surveys
  • Share AP marketing plan – specifically events and training schedule
  • Share specific plans to increase iMIS knowledge at each customer (inc SMART Customer program)
  • Value cycle message; 7 drivers message
  • Future - Aggregator service for customer/member blogs?
  • Future - iMIS knowledge pool – wiki site?

    Jay (specifically on Discovery conference)

  • Team committed to making it a great conference, worked tirelessly to make it a success
  • Have a requirement for administration assistance, Effie seemed to do too much stuff and is not really part of the committee is she?
  • Positive attitude
  • I have a high level of respect for the people involved

    Colin

  • Excellent job in getting moving in its first year. Discovery excellent and a great turn-out
  • Cannot really comment on the other sessions that were run during the year as I did not attend - but I believe as a start, they are doing well
  • PAC progress – is AP region getting input? I feel customers would be finding increased benefit from their membership if PAC progress can be made
  • I know that the prices went up recently for their membership - and I am not sure whether this was AP or Worldwide but I did have at least one customer question the value for that price. Was it communicated why the pricing change?

    Liza

  • NiUG contributed stories to iMIS Insights throughout the year which highlighted upcoming events and committee nominations, appointments and changes
  • Discovery Conference (from what I hear) was a great success. AP Marketing was available to assist with marketing this event but were not approached to. Please pass on our interest in supporting them more this year
  • Is there anything we can do to help boost membership numbers?
  • Marla is waiting on their calendar of events so we can include them in our email communication to customers
  • We communicated the "Overview of NiUG" webcast to customers
  • We included info on our website about the conference
  • Jay spoke at info day in Melb
