10 ways to change the world while you work

Further to my post yesterday on our greenhouse gas emissions, I came across a great little article in the weekend paper about small things we can do right away to help make a difference. The article (in The Age) was a review of a book called "Change The World 9 to 5" and it's related website www.WeAreWhatWeDo.org.au.

10 ways to change the world while you work:

  • Start a car pool
  • Use a ball point pen from start to finish
  • Praise people
  • Remember people's names
  • Speak rather than email
  • Make a radio request for the person opposite you
  • Shut down your computer properly at the end of each day
  • Share your lunch with someone
  • Lose the plastic cup
  • Bring the kids into work one day

Book summary - "Change the World 9 to 5" is the latest book from the team that brought you the best selling "Change the World for Ten Bucks". "Change the World 9 to 5" features 50 simple, practical things which we can all do during the working day to make a difference to the world and those around us, regardless of our profession. And like "Change the World for Ten Bucks", it is packed with tricks, gimmicks and even the odd surprise. With the longest working hours in Europe, "Change the World 9 to 5" will help us all make the most of the time we spend at work and feel good about ourselves.
