Non-profits getting more coverage at SXSWi

SXSW - which stands for South by South West - or 'South by' for short, is a massive festival of music, film, media and interactivity held each year in Austin, Texas. While the music festival always gets plenty of publicity, the Interactive festival continues to grow - and it is now known as SXSWi (the 2008 website is here). SXSWi celebrates the creativity and passion behind the coolest new media technologies.

Being in Austin, a number of ASI staff attended and blogged about sessions they attended, and most are on www.iMISCommunity.com. Of particular interest I found the post on non-profits on the bleeding edge very timely and this one on engaged websites also relevant.

Reading these posts reminded of the growing community of non-profit bloggers - or more specifically, non-profit tech bloggers - and in fact 'nptech' is becoming a standard tag for non-profit technology (see this page on Technorati for a summary of nptech blogs, and this page for shared nptech bookmarks on del.icio.us). In addition, a number of major nptech feeds are coming into this website - click the link on the left that says 'External feeds...'.

Keeping up with blogs means understanding and using RSS. There are a couple of great blog postings here that were written for non-profit managers and how they should setup their RSS readers. But everything works for us too.
