Save the Planet!

As previously advised, ASI AP is a member of VECCI’s Grow Me the Money Program which encourages businesses to be environmentally aware. The following tip is from their latest Forum:

Most computers in Australia incorporate ENERGY STAR technology, the international standard for energy efficient electronic equipment. When enabled ENERGY STAR reduces the amount of energy consumed by a computer by automatically switching it into a 'sleep' mode when it's not being used. ENERGY STAR settings on your home or office computer are accessed via the Control Panel.

On a desktop computer running Microsoft Windows:
• click on the Start menu;
• in Settings click on Control Panel then select Display and the Screensaver tab.
• The ENERGY STAR logo should be displayed, click on the Power button;
• now select the amount of inactive time you want to elapse before your monitor turns itself off when not in use.

You can also set a time period of inactivity after which your computer will go into system standby mode which reduces the amount of energy use even more.

Did you know that a computer and monitor (without ENERGY STAR enabled) left on for a year generates the same amount of CO2 as a car travelling from Sydney to Perth?
