Visit to PlunketJason and I met on Monday with Paul (CEO), Allison (Finance/InfoSys GM) and Liz (Marketing/Comms GM) for a 2.5 hour workshop on setting a roadmap for Plunket over the coming 2 years and have that aligned with iMIS. Plunket have a very strong brand in NZ – in fact they see 92% of new babies every year – and have the potential to utilise technology to build on the strong community networks they already have in place. The future for them is very exciting! Plunket website here www.plunket.org.nz. After the workshop meeting, Jason took me down the road to the PlunketLine call centre, which is currently located in the Datacom call centre office. There were 7 nurses on the phones that day and 1 administrator to assist. The nurses use iMIS (and have been since July) – including some nice screens put together by Nasser to make it easier for the nurses to look up names, link children to families, access fact sheets and even triage information – all from inside iMIS. I watched over their shoulders for about half an hour, seeing how they take the calls, how they use iMIS, what works well for them and not so well for them. I heard calls where a mum had rung in since she had dropped her baby off her knee, and the nurses do a stellar job of helping them over the phone. When they need to they can transfer calls to the ambulance or police or hospitals too. It was really special and I am glad I visited. Photo attached of 2 of the nurses in action! Quick facts on Plunket – to ensure that NZ children are among the healthiest in the world. 26,000 car seats available for hire. Celebrates 100 years in 2007. 600+ clinical staff. 8,000 volunteers. 615,000+ face to face contacts each year. 270,000+ home visits. 64,000+ calls to PlunketLine.
